Jen Talbot, the designer of the premises, likes to communicate with adults first, before deciding on the interior of a bedroom for teens; it is better to get to know the customers to do something that will be close to their soul for many years.
The room presented is part of a complete redevelopment of a family home with Indian roots, which not so long ago moved to the suburbs of Chicago. Their musically gifted 16-year-old daughter has a serious passion for travel, so Talbot worked with her to take into account all the wishes in the redesign.
"This is a wonderful family, and parents have done everything possible to create a creative environment for their children and allow them to be themselves," Talbot said. They recently moved to the city to make the article part of a more diverse contingent, to be closer to the culture of Chicago and to give children a comprehensive education.
Shortly before that the girl visited India where she wanted to discover new creative ideas and inspiration. Her creative principle was caught by the tree, which she wanted to see in her room. Talbot embodied this idea in the chandelier in the theme of a magical forest. A coverlet, a stitched pouf and a carpet give the design some degree of traveler's style.
"It was important for us to make her room cool and modern, but not" girly ", – says Talbot. They stopped at a bohemian interior, which at the same time would be very individual, because the girl is extremely attached to music and travel. Decorative cushion «Wander» perfectly notices this. They also went along with the designer on all the teen's favorite albums to find the three best covers and hang them over the bed.
Talbot worked in Anthropologie and is an expert in art installations, so creating a one-of-a-kind lamp under the inspiration of an Indian tree was not something out of the ordinary for her. The greatest difficulty was presented by the search for branches in the forest, which she could carry into the room. Having connected them, Talbot then hung them on the ceiling with the help of hooks and lines.
Lamps are attached to inconspicuous copper strings. Goose feathers were also added to the branches on the line. To hide the electrical wires going to the connector next to the bed, a screed was used that hides them behind the tree trunk – a large branch in the corner. Also there is a light regulator, so that the owner of the room can easily adjust it as needed.
The girl got an old sitar on the market in India and is already learning how to play it. The same goes for the drums. Two wooden shelves provide plenty of space for storing books, albums and other favorite things, and a caramel leather chair is a great place to play and listen to music. "She will sit in her room and learn to play various instruments," Talbot said.
On a soft woolen carpet from India it is convenient to sit and play the drums. A quilted leather pouffe, a lamp decorated in African style and the legendary album "Abbey Road" perfectly complete the theme of a traveler-musician.

Knowing about hobbies, you can create a special room. Hobbies are very helpful in this. For a teenager his personality is most important, the designer took it into account, and that's what turned out to be a wonderful room.
What a beautiful decoration – a tree. Creates the effect of arriving on the street. I also like shelves for books and trivia. The tree has always been considered an indicator of wealth. In addition, it is environmentally friendly material. The room is ideal for a child who likes to read a lot and musical instruments.
